Gammel Dansk, for a rigtig good start!
Thanks for the engagement flowers!
Sunny sunny day out :)

Engaged!

So Troels spent some time on one knee....while I was making up my mind :) And of course I said YES without a moment of hesitation. We are engaged and will be having our wedding ceremony in France next summer! So here is to happiness! We are jumping and dancing around in New York, so why don't you just open a bottle and join us from wherever you are? :)

Happy Happy lovely lovely day

:)

The day out strolling in Copenhaguen, a diner with Troels' family in the backyard and an evening out late on the lake, watching the lights blinking in the distance. Oh, and did I mention more icecream?? :)

One of the sweetest day I have ever had. I will never forget it.

Leila, prends soin de nous, petit ange, d'ou tu nous regardes.

Falling all over again

A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.
~Henry David Thoreau

It had been a long time since I last felt a true, deep instant connection to a place. When Hanne took me down the lake, to Esrum Soe, to have some tea last Thursday, I was just stunned by the beauty of this place. Even when the weather got rocky and the water was dark, I could only stay amased. And now I have even more reason to have my heart tied to this place forever.

Destination: Icecream Kingdom

Captain Troels and his dD sailed est accross Esrum Soe from some loveliest icecream. My man worked hard hard hard to get us to the other side of the lake, and it was worth it! I had never seen any ice cream that big. Even I could not finish it, can you imagine, me, not finishing something that good and that sweet?!
Happy smile as we are leaving
Mutiny on board, Troels first tried to throw dD in the water before asking the Gods for help. They answered, but too late....bwahahahahahah
yaaaaaaay we are there!
mmmmmmm. No comment.

Diving in Sweden

Blue and yellow everywhere and people talking Danish a bit funny, this is how I shall remember Sweden for now. Oh, and also the pink and yellow starfish, crabs, jelly fish and all that we saw under the water :) Lovely day out if it wasn't for the bees who tried to steal our lunch!

Happy Birthday, Happy Diving!

Ooooh ooohhh someone is getting closer and closer to being 30! :) Happy birthday my T! This called for great celebration, and after the morning singing and lovely breakfast with the family, even the oh-so-wonderful Danish weather didn't stop us from going diving with T's brother, Kaare.

The Bride's Waltz

Too bad the kiss part is missing :) At the end, the husband also gets carried away and gets the end of his socks cut. Another Danish tradition. "Why?" I asked Troels' grand-pa? "Who knows" he said. Lovely silly traditions :)

Hanne and Steffen's Silver wedding party

Party boys :) Oh all the wine that night!

Danish people LOVE to sing!

Not always well, but they do love to sing! Especially when there is an occasion for celebration, and especially when it means waking people up with that. On Saturday we celebrated Hanne and Steffen's silver wedding. The veru organised crew that we are, and a bit thrown off schedule with Tristan's birth, us kids prepared laaaaaate at night on Friday the traditional arch that is placed in front on the couple's house.

T:"Ok Let's go make the arch
Me: Great! I am excited, where is the stuff to make it?
T, raising his shoulders: Mmmmmm not sure.
Me: Sight. Oh dear, this is gonna be a looong night!

In any case, we managed to finish the arch, after Katarine and I blind-cutted half of Hanne's beautiful garden - and it looked pretty good to :) 6:30 am the Saturday. The alarm clock goes on, I want to throw it out of the window. But hey singing is waiting for us! We quietly go out of the house, the entire family, and in front of Hanne and Stefen's window start singing the traditional songs to wake them up. So lovely.

The party at night was a blast, filled with speaches and HOURRA, HOURRA, HOURRA, HOURRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (the long one :). I also learned how to dance the Lanciers (apparently a French dance that EVERYBODY was expecting me to know since Danes all have to learn it when they are in highschool.

And this morning, Troel's birthday and I thought that we would sleep in........but not so much :) It was our turn to be awaken by the birthday song, even though my 1/2 awake brain took a long time realizing what was happening.

Lovely lovely Danish traditions :)

Ohh sooooo early! Katarine, Kaare and I

En lille dreng, han hedder Tristan!

Troels' younger brother Asbjorn and his girlfriend Ditte now have the cuttest littelest boy :) Tristan was born today and we all jumped in a car to zoom zoom to the hospital after picking up Troels from the airport. He is just adorable, everybody is healthy and the parents are very happy.
